The only "8-bit" Commodore computer missing in VICE is the C64 - DTV. Jason Winters has made a wiki to add the C64 - DTV support to VICE. The DMA engine, DTV opcode, memory banking, verbessert VIC-II and the Blitter are implemented. There are a few things to do but most DTV demos are already running.

This page has a repository of games that have been hacked / patched for the DTV. Hopefully the DTV hacking community will contribute in order to make this the one-stop-shop for games to put on your DTV and Hummer. So why do the games need to be hacked for use on the DTV? Some games requires use of keyboard for starting the game, during the game, or at the high score list but also there are games that do not run on DTV hardware. The list is about 40 games long with classics like Giana Sisters, Pacman, Donkey Kong, Break out and many more.

The basic makes use of banking techniques so that the extended features doesn't use any extra memory in the "normal" memory range. This program is still in development but you can download the Beta version from the web site.

Peter Wendrich has finished the next Alpha version of his C64 core called FPGA64. The new core can now be switched between PAL and NTSC by pressing F12 on the PS2 keyboard. Also, there has been a change in the VGA display that should get rid of the "rolling picture" phenomenon. The MMU of his CPU has also been debugged, it now works as described in the docs. The core still has no correct sprite display, but Peter is getting close. As always, Peter is giving out his complete source. Follow this link to the download page, where we have prepared two archives for you; One with only the binary, and the other with binary and source files for the free Altera Quartus FPGA development software.

When the sale started of the PAL version many people started the hacking. Daniel Kahlin did some fine work in discovering the secrets of the PAL DTV. He has written a program to change the ROM inside the PAL DTV. But how is it possible to change the ROM? It's actually a Flash ROM like the memory in a digital camera. The program works but be careful. If you use it the wrong way it will erase your entire DTV.
