SIDPLAY is a Commodore 64 music player for Mac OS X with support for HVSC. The program emulates the sound chip and other internals of the Commodore 64 home computer to play back music that was originally written for a real C64. Changes in this version: Fixed issues in Lion (Mac OS X 10.7). The SID song lengths are corrected after synchronization with the latest HVSC version. Fixed export issues.

Wilfred Bos released an update of SID Known. This version is compatible with the latest HVSC (#55). SID Known is a tool which you can use to identify SID tunes from SID and PRG files. The tool has two methods to identify SID music. The first method is to play the SID and generate a hash to look it up in the database. The second method will try to identify the SID tune by it's memory usage.

There is a update available of the High Voltage SID Collection. There are now more than 40.000 SIDs in the collection. In this update 804 new SIDs, 113 fixed/better rips, 742 SID credit fixes, 176 SID model/clock infos, 20 tunes identified and 38 tunes moved. You can download the update from the HVSC web page.

Markus Gritsch has improved the firmware of his HybridSID. In this version he added level bars for the SID voices on the display. HybridSID is a hybrid SID player, built with emulated and real hardware. The CPU and CIA are emulated with a PIC32 and the sound is generated by a "real" SID chip. Dane of Booze Design released a new version of the JCH editor. This software pack consists of several players. You can use the player that will fit your needs. Some players use only little raster-time but are not that flexible. Other player have more options but use more time. A very comprehensive manual (English) is included with the music players.

Markus Gritsch has build a hybrid between an emulated and a hardware SID Player. The CPU and CIA are emulated with a PIC32 and the sound is generated by a hardware SID chip. This HybridSID is demonstrated in a YouTube video. In the comments of the video you can find a link with detailed information about the HybridSID.

Dan Laskowski demonstrates more of his new line of C64 Fastfinger sounds for the Korg KP3 and Kaossilator Pro. The Kaossilator is a portable synthesizer manufactured from Korg for making a wide range of sounds that can be played in a loop. You can watch the demonstration on YouTube.

Peter build himself a 8580 SID-player. For this project he used a AT91SAM7S256 @ 48MHz processor, 64KB RAM, 2x16 LCD display and a SD card for 35000+ PSID files. The system is build inside a Pioneer DT 555 case and can be controlled with the help of a menu. Watch the video on YouTube for more information about this project.

BYTEMAN is experimenting with the combination of the CSG 8580 SID Soundchip from legendary computer Commodore 64 and the russian clone of the ZX Spectrum the Scorpion ZS-256. You can watch a demonstration on YouTube. He used a SID chip, standard 74xx IC's and a ported version of SIDPlayer.

Thomas Wenzel released an update of his music player for the Amiga. AmigaAMP is a GUI based MPEG audio player using the 68k or PPC processor for the decoding. It can also play AIFF, WAV and 8SVX files. Changes in this version: Removed a bug in the xadmaster.library and in loading of complete directories. Fixed mouse button message handling and UTF support in ID2v3. Improved playlist keyboard navigation and implemented basic ID2v4 support. The minimum requirements are: AmigaOS 3.0 and a 68030-50MHz processor.

CheeseCutter is a Music Tracker program developed by Abbadon of Fairlight. The JCH Tracker was used as an inspiration and it uses the reSID engine by Dag Lem. A few examples of the changes in version 0.4.0 are: Autoconf script. Resid-fp for extra filter accuracy. You can exit from followplay / playback tracking without stopping the song. The playback position marker is now shown with sequence view and track mode. Real time sid-register dumping.

Jose Maria Bara has made a video about playing with the MSSIAH midi cartridge and the Commodore C64. He explains how he works with the MSSIAH midi cartridge and plays DM "Shake the Disease" and Popcorn.

Neotunes is a collection of SID music that can be used with a NeoRAM or GeoRAM cartridge. The collection contains dozens of SID's.

DigiBooster Pro is a music tracker program for the Amiga. The program can be used to make music using sound samples in various patterns. The features are: 128 tracks, 256 samples, 1024 patterns and 1024 positions. You can download a demo version from the Amigafuture.de web page.

The chipophone is a music device developed and built by Linus Åkesson. The chipophone is build inside a electric organ. The keys and knobs are connected to an micro processor and act as a MIDI keyboard. The MIDI keyboard is connected to an ATmega88 based synthesizer. With the chipophone you can play 8-bit music like it would sound on a 8-bit game console or computer.

The web page Amiga Music Preservation (AMP) celebrates it's 10 year anniversary. The goal of this web page is to be the most comprehensive, complete and precise database about Amiga music. They collect the Amiga music including the information about and interviews of Amiga musicians. The database is filled with more than 60.000 items and it is still growing.

On this Youtube video you can see an demonstration of Jordan Bartee playing Giana Sisters. He uses a heavily modified Commodore C64 to play the music. He added a second SID (6581), keyboard and the MidiBox SID platform to his C64.

Tomi Malinen made a dual SID system for the Commodore C64. You can buy the printed circuit board and assemble it yourself. Features: Small board (40mm x 50mm). 6581 or 8580. Selectable address (D400, D420, D500, DE00, DF00). You can read more about this project on the Lemon64 forum.

JSIDPlay is a Commodore C64 cycle-exact emulator optimized for sound reproduction. It is also a SID player for music collections like HVSC and CGSC. JSIDPlay2 can load SID (PSID/RSID), MUS, DAT, P00, PRG and STR sound files. It can play mono and stereo formats. External SID filter definitions are possible. And you can also use it like a real C64 to watch demos or play games.

Surgeon made a new SID tune from the original song by Ania Wyszkoni. The SID reached the fourth place at the Silesia Party 4. The SID is available as a .prg file.

Wilfred Bos released version 3.04 of his ACID 64 Player Pro. With this version there is now support for JSidplay2 and JSidDevice. This means you can use ACID 64 without hardware. Improvements: Faster start-up time. Emulation improvements. Copy file/directory added to context menu. Many small improvements. Fixes: ACID 64 couldn't start on some Windows 7 64 bit machines, Turning filter off and seek back turned filter on. Switching device and then seeking could silent the tune. Fast forward could freeze GUI in some cases.

Norbert Kehrer released a music tool for the Commodore C64. With his program YM-64 you can play music files on the Commodore C64 that were made for Atari ST, Amstrad/Schneider CPC, Sinclair ZX spectrum or MSX computers. All these computers had a YM2149 or AY-3-8910 music chip that had a square wave sound in three channels. It had a noise generator, which could be mixed with the the three square wave channels, and a parameter controllable envelope generator.

The famous Dutch music group Maniacs of Noise released a music-disk with 6 great SIDs. On this release you can find music from: Drax, Geir Tjelta, Jeroen Tel, Jogeir and Laxity. The code and design are from: Geir Tjelta, Mirage and Jon Hare.

Richard Bayliss (TND) released a new SID that he called Concrete Ball. You can download the tune as a .d64 or as a .sid file.

DJ Goons made a (60 minutes) SID remix called Another Byte Out Of The Dust. Besides listening to the SID remix on his web page you can also watch the Flashtro that is made for the SID remix. The SID's are from: Rob Hubbard, Martin Galway, Chris Huelsbeck, Matt Gray, Maniacs of Noice, Sonic Grafitti, Reed, Adrock and Sean Connoly.

The High Voltage SID Collection web page is totally renewed. The main parts are: The download section, Search, SID-Players, Info, FAQ and Links. Especially the Search part is much improved. You can for example type-in "Jeroen Tel 1991" and you will be presented with a complete list. Via this list you can view details such as Title, Author, Release date, SID model, Speed, File Format and more or download the SID.

Hermit (Samar Productions) made a SID of the song Egy szippantás a jóból. The original is from the Hungarian jazz singer, Charlie Horvath.

Wilfred Bos released a new version of his SID player for HardSID devices. New: Support for Uno and UPlay. Auto detection of turned on/off USB devices. Added sorting on column of every grid. Emulated SID. Improvements: When performing e.g. mute/unmute, filter on/off or pause then no time gap isn't noticed anymore while playing on a USB device. Seek bar is always going smooth now and still synched with the 6510 CPU clock. Improved fast forward. HardSID.dll isn't required any more for USB devices.

There are two new HardSID products available. Both products (HardSID Uno and HardSID Uplay) are connected via the USB and do not need an external power supply. In both devices there are two SID sockets available. The HardSID Uplay has the extra option to select the SID through software. Prices are HardSID Uno 149,-- Euro and HardSID Uplay 169,-- Euro. The HardSID 4U is available for 399,-- Euro.

The High Voltage SID Collection has been updated. This update: 874 new SIDs, 65 fixed/better rips, 470 SID credit fixes, 174 SID model/clock infos, 17 tunes identified. The whole collection (73 MByte) or the update (4,9 MByte) can be downloaded from the HVSC web page.

Wilfred Bos released an update of his SID player. In version 3.01 the following bugs were removed: Some machines the index file wasn't created correctly. Indexing of folder with a few SIDs is fixed. Seek speed isn't dependent anymore on fast forward limitation. STIL and SLDB info are now working for files outside HVSC. Minimal horizontal width isn't locked to previous width anymore. Improvements: STIL window can always be opened now and doesn't close automatically anymore. Improved handling of SLDB entries. Changed a few keyboard short cuts.
